{"id":885,"date":"2019-11-30T21:52:22","date_gmt":"2019-11-30T21:52:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reimaginingthelevels.org.uk\/?p=885"},"modified":"2022-11-28T12:41:28","modified_gmt":"2022-11-28T12:41:28","slug":"successful-training-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reimaginingthelevels.org.uk\/?p=885","title":{"rendered":"Successful Training Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/reimaginingthelevels.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/digging-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-887 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 225px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 225\/225;\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Reimagining the Levels <strong>first training day<\/strong> was held earlier this month and was hugely enjoyable.\u00a0 We were hosted in the marquee of Kath at <strong>The Pig Pen, Over Stratton<\/strong>.\u00a0 Despite it being a bitterly cold day, we were kept warm with blankets, fire pits, and hot and sustaining food and drink all day and with plenty to learn and discuss the time flew by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Phil Stone and Paul Sander-Jackson provided a detailed information session on s<strong>electing a suitable site for a Community Woodland and choosing the right species to plant in it.<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0People were encouraged to visit nearby community woodlands for inspiration (High Ham Millennial Wood and North Curry) and to use local knowledge and contacts to find the right site.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a filling lunch of soup and homemade bread and muffins, Carrie Skinner led a session on <strong>Finding, Organising and Keeping Volunteers.\u00a0 <\/strong>Everyone contributed ideas about how to find like-minded people to work with, how best to utilise individual skills and how to motivate and keep hold of them.\u00a0 To end the day, Phil took us outside for a t<strong>ree planting demonstration<\/strong>, using bare rooted and pot grown examples and including stakes and protective guards.
