You may have seen David Attenborough\u2019s BBC programme \u201cClimate Change – the Facts\u201d<\/strong> that included a powerful call to arms for Government\u2019s to start treating climate change as an emergency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greenpeace<\/strong> have responded by launching a petition calling on the UK Government to declare and climate emergency AND<\/strong> to act on it.\u00a0 They have included a list of the sorts of actions our Government could do if they were serious about tackling climate change. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\n(1)<\/strong> Ban all new oil and gas production in the UK, including\nfracking
\n(2)<\/strong> Triple renewable energy by 2030
\n(3)<\/strong> Plant 700 million trees
\n(4)<\/strong> Introduce a Frequent Flyer Tax
\n(5)<\/strong> End the sale of all new petrol and diesel cars by 2030
\n(6)<\/strong> Roll out free bus travel for young people and those on lower\nincomes
\n(7)<\/strong> End carbon emissions from heavy industry like steel and cement
\n(8)<\/strong> Create millions of jobs in a new green economy
\n(9)<\/strong> Retrofit our homes to go zero carbon
\n(10)<\/strong> Radically change the farming and food system to encourage a\nless meat-based diet<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reimagining the Levels supports these aims and would urge you to\nsign the petition if you have not already. \nThe only way the government will do any of this is if public opinion\nforces them to. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
