Retaining water in the mid and Upper catchments will help reduce flooding in the levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Local environmental group Reimagining\nthe Levels, in partnership with\nSomerset Rivers Authority, Farmers and\nWildlife Advisory Group SouthWest, and\nthe Woodland Trust, have funding,\nexpertise and materials available for\nsmall plantings of trees and hedges\nthat will aid water management.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent years, Somerset has\nexperienced sudden and prolonged\nflooding from extreme weather events\nand Somerset Rivers Authority is keen\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>to support local flood management schemes. Slowing the flow of water by allowing it\nto percolate through the soil into the aquifers rather than overwhelming streams and\nrivers is the focus of the scheme.
